Not bad, but needs a couple of fixes

Simple self check in. I'd say the room we were in (3) was the former breakfast/dining room converted to a huge bedroom. Bathroom was immaculate, clearly very new. Issue with the TV was quickly resolved by the host (you contact them via Ring door cameras). Quite noisy from the road despite secondary glazing, but not too bad. Ground floor room near entrance door meant other guests were regulalrly heard - quite late on occasion - and the door to the room did little to soundproof. Room needs a couple of bedside lamps and a wall mirror. Overall though and despite these mainly very fixable issues, we enjoyed our stay.

Stay there for 2 nights was warm and comfy never saw anyone .Only heared one person the hole 2 days.One thing it was a bit dear at 270 for 2 nights well the rugby was one maybe that was why .info was great where to get bus taxi number wifi was easy sleep was good

Small comfortable room with On suit shower room. Tea and coffee supplied. Easy parking in nearby streets, £5 day ticket great for buses. The bus stops were close to the hotel maybe 5mins walk. Many buses to north Bridge for royal mile then 1/2 the bus routes for Princess Street the others went down Leith Walk.

The house is situated about 40 minutes walk from Princes Street. There are plenty of buses(£2) to catch and the bus stop is just opposite. We had one of the smaller rooms in the house - the room size was fine but not well laid out. There was only about 2 inches to get round the double bed to get to the other side, the sash window was very heavy and impossible to open. There was a very small couch - supposed to be a 2 seater, but really only sat 1 person. The other person then had to sit on the bed but couldn’t really see the TV and the TV was fixed. Our biggest gripe was that our room was billed with an en suite bathroom … but it was in fact down the passage way. Having not realised I would need a dressing gown this was problematic. Also there was at least one occasion when somebody else had used it. We knew before going that there was no breakfast provided so took Belvita breakfast biscuits and Scot’s porridge oats satchels that you just add water to. This worked well. Normal tea and coffee satchels are provided but not decaf or herbal teas. There is a small fridge downstairs which you can put a few bits in. The main house was decorated well and clean. We loved Edinburgh and did so many different things - a walking tour, afternoon tea at the Balmoral, a Highlands tour, Holyrood House, the castle, a whisky and gin experience, walk up Arthur’s Seat…. and one of our favourites- HMY Britannia at Leith - you can catch the team there.

Allison house 17 is in a very convenient position for the city with buses stopping outside so easy to get around. The room was small with an en-suite we stayed 6 nights . We discovered that there was no breakfast attempted to make contact via the bell system but no one answered on the occasions I tried . We were told by 16 that breakfast was stopped three years ago! The fridge advertised did not have anything in despite the price list beside it . Only contained other residents bits . The self check in works ok but with this system you might expect an information booklet of some type to explain what’s what ! The room was tired and the large sash window did not work well and got stuck open again no one to report this too! Good job it was warm. The cleaners came but did not vacuum the floor that really needed doing and did not make the bed etc just emptied bins . There was a rather grubby tray for the teas and coffees. Felt more like a hostel Our friends had a room in the basement that was even smaller and had no window! On some occasions there was no hot water seems timing was of the essence
